What is digital marketing?
At its core, digital marketing is a blanket term for any form of marketing that exists online. There’s a wide range of tactics and assets that fall under the umbrella of digital marketing.
Some assets may include (but certainly not limited to) a business’ logo, website, social media channels, and blog.
The tactics used can include Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Social Media Marketing, Content Marketing, Email Marketing & Pay-Per-Click (PPC) just to name a few.
What is SEO?
SEO – or Search Engine Optimization is the process of optimizing your website to ‘rank’ higher in search engine results pages. By ranking high you potentially increase the amount of organic (or free) traffic that your website receives.
SEO breaks down into on-site and off-site SEO.
On-site SEO addresses things on your own site that will help search engines and users understand what you do and find all the pages on your site.
Off-site SEO is primarily concerned with creating links back to your site and citations about your business in order to help demonstrate relevance and popularity to Google and other popular search engines.
It is obviously more technical than that, but we think these are adequate summaries.
What is local SEO?
Local SEO focuses on achieving trusted and localized results in geocentric/location-based searches (for example, “Italian restaurant near me”). With mobile phones becoming more and more ubiquitous, these types of searches are becoming a lot more frequent and often result in a map being displayed in the search results. There are some very specific tactics that can be employed to impact rank performance in the location-based search results.
What sorts of businesses do you work with?
As our name LocalBizGuru suggests, our expertise is primarily working with local businesses. By ‘local’ we mean businesses dependent on localized traffic/customers searching for their products and services.
The SEO industry’s term for this is ‘local SMBs’ – or local Small to Medium sized Businesses.

Do you have minimum length contracts?
No, not at all! All of our contracts and services agreements are on a month to month plan basis.
There are no hidden fees for canceling – ever.
That said, we highly recommend you give our services time to really have the desired effect and impact. Our Local SEO Solutions are not a one and done proposition. Since SEO is a marathon & not a sprint, you will only see sustained results with consistency over time.
In addition, by suspending SEO maintenance on your site, you will likely lose all of your gains to your competition – allowing them to get in front of your potential clients.
Can you guarantee results?
Anyone who guarantees keyword ranking results is flat out lying. The fact is nobody can guarantee ranking results, especially with SEO, as there are too many variables since Google’s algorithm is a constantly evolving secret.
Even Google’s official statement reads:
No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google.
Beware of SEOs that claim to guarantee rankings, allege a “special relationship” with Google, or advertise a “priority submit” to Google. There is no priority submit for Google. In fact, the only way to submit a site to Google directly is through our Add URL page or by submitting a Sitemap and you can do this yourself at no cost whatsoever.
Furthermore, judging SEO performance on keyword rankings is a problem in and of itself as keywords do not equal organic traffic. Keyword rankings fluctuate on their own due to a myriad of variables including competitor efforts, search engine algorithm updates, and are also largely personalized to one’s location, device and search history. Controlling a ranking is nearly impossible and search engines positions are fickle.
That said, what we can guarantee is that we will follow industry best practices and that we have our clients’ best interests in mind with everything that we do. We do guarantee that if the client implements and follows our recommendations, search traffic will rise, and we do guarantee that our work won’t put them at risk of penalties from the search engines.
How long will it take to see results?
This is another tough question, as all clients and their projects are different and time frames may often be out of our control (for example, a client’s developer may have no time to work on our recommendations).
Our standard answer is that within the first 60 days from the start of the project, most if not all clients will have seen a noticeable improvement.
At LocalBizGuru, we always like to tackle at least some quick win items first so that the project starts to pay off almost immediately, so most clients start to see results quicker than that.
Why do you always talk about Google, aren’t there other search engines out there?
According to Statista’s recent survey on search engine market share,
In July 2016, Microsoft Sites handled 21.9 percent of all search queries in the United States. During the same period of time, Yahoo had a search market share of 12.1 percent. Market leader Google generated 63.4 percent of all core search queries in the United States and accounted for 89.3 percent of the global search market as of mid-2015.”
Clearly, Google is the proverbial 800-pound gorilla when it comes to search. As a result, we focus our efforts on optimizing sites for Google. Fortunately, a lot of the tactics we use will have a similar positive effect in the other search engines like Bing & Yahoo.
How will you report and how do we know what you'll be working on?
At LocalBizGuru, transparency is one of our core values. As such, we like to keep our clients informed, up-to-date and in the loop with what we are doing at every step of the way. We send monthly analytics reports outlining performance, as well as completed and upcoming work.
In addition, your account manager will be in constant contact with you making sure your business’ marketing goals and objectives are being met. We are always available to discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding your project.
Will any links or citations be removed if we stop working together?
Absolutely not! We would never consider doing this, if for no other reason than it would be incredibly unprofessional and immensely time-consuming. Not to mention that all work conducted during the project would have been paid for and would remain in place, including all links and citations built.
That said, we cannot be held responsible and will not guarantee they will not be removed or altered by a third party affecting the link and citations integrity or permanence.
Do you do social media and/or content marketing?
In a word, yes!
However, we generally prefer to only be consultants, as it is much more effective if internal teams are used to represent your company. This is because internal teams will be much more familiar with the company, products, tone, and customers.
We will happily give training, come up with topics or promotions or find the best social channel for a client to use for a particular piece of content.
Regarding content marketing/blogging and the like, no one is more passionate about your business than you! Your expertise and passion are your greatest assets and cannot be replicated even by professional content writers.
Ideally, we prefer to advise you, by optimizing blog posts for both your audience and search engines to get the most traction out of your efforts.
That said, should a client wish to hand over the reins, arrangements can be made (typically at the rate of $100/hr) to set up a content marketing campaign and schedule.
